The Harmful Aspects of Advertisements- Samah






            Do you think Advertisements have a dark side? Or do you think Advertisements only provide beneficial things? As we know, advertising plays momentous role in each society. It can change the whole world in a short time whether in a positive or negative way. Indeed, advertisings is harmful to people because of two specific reasons: influence on kids and consumers deception.
            Advertisements are damaging in view of the fact that they have particularly huge effects on children. According to my viewpoint the content of advertisements may be inappropriate for children. A case in point is that is kids see unethical ads, they might impact kid's behavior, and they could affect their ethics. In addition, the advertising may promote social evils. As a result, it may make children become more aggressive, offensive, and violent. Moreover, it might influence children's minds, and it may affect their bodies too. To give an example, some advertising claims that soda gives us a lot of energy, but soda is very harmful for us especially our kids because they engage in an important stage of confirmation and maturity. Last but not least, some advertising may cause obesity. It may show some illegal ads for kids such as drugging, drinking, and smoking. Finally, ads may waste time particularly for kids. In other words, ads appear too long, so ads may consume their time without any benefits. Advertising is used to promote some products in order to make those products appealing to people, so people decide to buy them even if they do not need them.
            Advertisements have another negative side when they are used to deceive people. They show different products from the real ones because of how want to purchase something that does not appear good, so companies' a lot of trick to improve their products, or they send many positive messages about their products that may be false. Consequently, the customers will be confused when they see those ads, and they will be changed from real purchase to unaware purchase. Furthermore, ads may offer some products to the public that may cause some problems. One good illustration for this is that some ads might demonstrate products that cause health problems including, fast food advertising. Another issue is the advertisements may affect an environment, or they may cause economic problems. Not only that, the ads might give us wrong information. The advertisements may provide good information to us, but the information may be not true. It means that it may give us false facts. Take, for example, if someone sees a medical ad that may provide wrong information, she or he will follow that medical advice that may affect their general health.
            In conclusion, actually advertisements have drawbacks such as it impacts on children, and it deceives customers. When people understand advertisements better, they will face disadvantages; as a result, they will feel comfortable because they will be conscious about negative and positive sides of advertisements.
